Why we do what we do.


Being an independent firm means we are not bound to any specific financial institution or their products, and can instead recommend whatever is best for our clients’ specific needs.


Fee-only means we receive no commissions or incentives for recommending any specific investments to our clients.  We receive the same compensation regardless of our recommendations.  Clients know and see what they pay us for our services. Period.


Just a fancy way of saying we must always act in the best interest of our clients. This may seem obvious, but many “financial advisors” are not held to this standard.


Kyle Mast, CFP®, Owner, Financial Planner


Kyle founded Clarity Financial, LLC to provide independent, fee-only, fiduciary advice of the highest standard to clients and is passionate about removing as much financial uncertainty and stress from his clients’ lives as possible.

Kyle holds the Certified Financial Planner™ designation, widely recognized by the financial advising industry as the highest standard for financial planning, requiring ongoing education and development as a financial professional.

Having been in the industry since 2009, and having worked with individuals, families, businesses, schools, churches, and endowments, Kyle emphasizes the importance of a long-term planning relationship with his clients as he believe this gives them the best possible chance of achieving their financial goals.

Kyle lives just outside Portland, Oregon with his wife, Hannah, and son, Randon.

$215 /month

Standard Ongoing Financial Planning

  • This is a great option for those serious about ongoing professional financial planning and guidance, ensuring someone knows your financial circumstances well and is there to offer advice through the busyness of life.

  • $215/month.  Minimum of one year commitment.

  • One-time, initial planning setup fee of $375.

  • Annual, in-person or web, 60 minute financial planning review meeting.

  • Includes up to 7 hours total of financial planning advice annually (a typical year may look like: 1 hour annual meeting, 2.5 hours meeting prep, 2.5 hours meeting follow up, 1 hour emails & phone calls throughout the year). Additional planning time will be charged at the current hourly rate of $375/hour.

  • Regular investment management fee, if any, charged to any investment account(s) that we manage in addition to this financial planning fee (see investment management fee schedule).


$750-$890 /one time

Q&A Financial Planning Session

  • This is an excellent option for those who are looking for a professional opinion on their plans and situation, but are willing to do the work of implementing their financial plans and investments on their own.  This service does not provide full comprehensive planning but is a good option for covering a single financial planning topic, several topics, or a general review of your financial plans.

  • One time $750-$890 fee depending on complexity (10% of fee is non-refundable to hold the meeting time).

  • Includes 60-90 minutes of meeting prep, 60-minute meeting (in-person or virtual), and up to 30 minutes of follow up emails and phone calls after the meeting.

  • Client is required to complete a pre-meeting questionnaire and upload requested documents (tax return, investment statements, pay stubs, etc.) prior to the meeting so that we can make the most of our time.  This is a requirement and the meeting will be cancelled if questionnaire and/or all documents are not received within 12 hours before the scheduled meeting time, in which case the client deposit will not be refunded.

  • If more planning time is required, client may choose to sign up as a Standard Financial Planning client (if there is availability).  The Q&A session fees will apply toward the Standard Financial Planning fees if sign up is within 30 days of the Q&A session.


Investment Management

(only offered to ongoing financial planning clients)

Your plan may include investment accounts that you implement yourself or accounts that we implement, manage, and monitor for you, or both.

You can nearly always save money by implementing your investment accounts and strategies yourself.  However, for accounts that you choose to have us manage, implement, and monitor for you, the annual fees are as follows and are automatically deducted from the aggregated accounts on a quarterly basis:

  • 0.65% fee on amounts up to $249,999.

  • 0.49% fee on amounts from $250,000 to $499,999.

  • 0.29% fee on amounts from $500,000 to $999,999.

  • 0.19% fee on amounts from $1,000,000 to $1,999,999.

  • 0.15% fee on amounts from $2,000,000 to $4,999,999.

  • 0.09% fee on amounts from $5,000,000 and above.

There are also additional fees on any account not charged by Clarity Financial LLC, including, but not limited to, custodian fees and mutual fund or ETF expense ratios that often range from an additional 0.02% to 0.45% annually.  Our policy is to construct portfolios keeping fees as low as possible, to the extent that proper diversification and asset allocation do not suffer, as we believe this is a strong factor in the long-term growth of client investments.
